Copper Coin of the Qing Dynasty and Rare Banknote from the 1960s

Posted Date: 2019-07-26

During the latest online auction of antiques, coins, fine art and collectibles of July, a copper coin dated from the period of Emperor Hsien-feng (1851-1861) of the Qing Dynasty and a piece of one-“jiao” (10 cents) note issued in 1962 caught collectors’ and bidders’ attention and sparked fierce bidding. The hammer price of the Hsien-feng coin, Lot. No. H283, was ¥5,200 after 42 rounds of bidding. The one-“jiao” note, Lot No. H133, reached a hammer price of ¥4,800 after 39 rounds of bidding, 48,000 times of its face value. Both lots were in fine conditions and appeared to be rare pieces in the popular market.
