The Carbon Show 2011 featured a breakfast seminar, hosted by ENDS Europe, on the topic of International Aviation in the EU ETS. This session covered legal and policy updates and discussed the implications and challenges of regulating aviation emissions, whilst providing an open forum for debate.

The Carbon Show 2011 has offset the 62 tonnes of CO2e produced by the show from the Sanchawan Run-of-River Hydro Project in China which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by generating electricity from a renewable energy source, displacing the use of fossil fuels.

We are delighted that by offsetting the emissions from the show we can help towards a renewable energy project that has such far reaching benefits.

The Carbon Show 2011 opened its doors today at the Business Design Centre in London with Lord Heseltine, Chairman, Haymarket Group, delivering a keynote entitled 'Lower carbon, greener economy' alongside Yvo de Boer, Andrew Miller MP and Dr. Laura Altinger.

The seminar sessions have been full and visitors to the show have taken full advantage of the informative sessions on The Carbon Stage.

Arup will host a reception for delegates with an interest in Carbon Management, including those who are attending any of the seminars in the Carbon Management Stream, on the first day of The Carbon Show 2011.

Attendees are invited to join the Arup team on the show floor to discuss hot issues and continue networking in a more informal setting.

The Carbon Show will open its doors for the third year on Thursday 20 October at the Business Design Centre, London. Once again the show will open with a welcome ceremony featuring keynote speeches from a panel of top level speakers.

Chris Huhne today delivered a speech at the Liberal Democrat conference, arguing that climate change policies could not be dropped as a measure of cutting costs. He stated that "cutting carbon is not a luxury to be ditched when the going gets tough" and claimed that in fact carbon reduction could lead to an increase in available jobs.

Mr Huhne stated that the green deal would lead to a new "green industrial revolution", creating 250,000 jobs by 2030.
